Getting started with Karma Card

The Karma Card allows you to spend money around the globe and operates like a regular bank card. You can get a card if you are a resident of the U.S.
Here is how to request a card:
a. Log into your Karma account and navigate to the card section.
b. If you are in the card section, click on “Apply for Card”, and you will be prompted to fill in some information about yourself, and you might be requested to submit some documentation to verify your identity and proof of address.
c. Once you have provided the required information, it takes less than a minute to get verified, and if approved,  you can use your digital card right away.

How do I add money to my card?

You can add money to your card by send money from one of your other accounts (bank account, Venmo, PayPal, or direct deposit). 

a) Bank Transfer from one of your other bank accounts: Click the “+ Deposit” button below your card, then on the right part of the screen click on “bank transfer”. Here you will see your Karma bank details and you can go to your online bank (ie. Bank of America, Chase, Wells Fargo) and send a transfer to your Karma Card. It may take a day or two for your bank to make a transfer since they will verify your Karma Card account with small test transfers. Once the account is verified, you’ll be able to transfer funds to your Karma Card.

b) Venmo: To add funds to your Karma Card through Venmo, you’ll need money in your venmo account or a venmo debit card. If one of these conditions applies to you, click “Venmo” on the right side and follow the instructions to add your Karma Card to your Venmo account and transfer money.

c) PayPal: To add funds to your Karma Card through PayPal, click “PayPal” on the right side and follow the instructions to add your Karma Card to your PayPal account and transfer money.

d) Direct Deposit: This option requires a little more additional effort to set up, but once it’s done, your paychecks or benefit checks will be deposited directly to your Karma Card account, and will be automatically available to you. Pick up a direct deposit form from your employer or benefits manager and complete it using your Karma Card account information. There may be a delay of 2-4 weeks depending on how your checks are processed. You will be notified when the first check is deposited to your account.

Safety and security.

Be careful to never share your CVV and card PIN with anyone. Karma customer support or employees will never ask you for your card PIN or CVV. 

How do I use my Karma Card with my digital wallet?

To link your Karma Card to Apple or Google Pay: 
Log in to your Karma account, go to the Card menu, and then Add a card to your Google, Apple, or Samsung Wallet. 

To add your card to Apple Pay using your iPhone's Apple Wallet:
• Open the Apple Wallet app.
• Tap the "+" sign in the top right corner.
• You can either manually enter your card details or use your iPhone's camera to scan your card.
• Follow the instructions to complete the card verification process.
• If prompted, request a verification code via SMS to confirm your card.
• Once verified, your card will be added to Apple Wallet and ready to use with Apple Pay.

To add your Karma Card to your Google Pay wallet:
• Open the Google Wallet app on your phone.
• Tap the "Add to Wallet" button at the bottom of the screen.
• Tap "Payment card."
• Select "New credit or debit card."
• Use your camera to scan your card or enter the card information manually.
• Tap "Save" at the bottom of the screen.
• Read and accept the Issuer Terms if prompted.
• If needed, verify your payment method by choosing an option from the list.

To add your Karma Card to your Samsung Pay wallet:
• Open the Samsung Pay app on your phone.
• Tap "Cards" from the menu.
• Tap the "Add" button at the bottom of the screen.
• Select "Add credit/debit card."
• Use your camera to scan your card or enter the card information manually.
• Follow the instructions to register your card.
• Agree to the card's terms and conditions.
• Contact the card issuer if you have any questions about the terms.

Can I get a physical card?

Yes, you can have both a physical and a digital card. The card number is the same for both cards. You will need an existing digital card to order your physical card.

There are no monthly fees for either card, and they are both available at no cost.

Not sure if you want a physical card right now? No pressure! You can order one at any time as long as you have an existing digital card.

How do I activate my card?

Digital cards are automatically activated after completing your application and verification. You can use them in your preferred mobile payment wallets, such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. 

Physical cards come with an activation code. For security purposes, physical cards are blocked when they are delivered to the user.

Karma Card provides two mechanisms to activate your physical card:

i. You can activate your card yourself via the Karma Card application. To do so, log into your Karma Card account, and navigate to the card settings. Click on Activate physical card, and then you will be prompted to fill in the activation code that came with your card.

ii. Alternatively, you can call the automated card activation line. During this call, the cardholder is prompted to confirm their registered phone number and the last 4 digits of the card number. The first step is not necessary if the incoming call is recognized as the registered phone number. If the initial verification fails, the cardholder is prompted to enter additional data such as the last 4 digits of their SSN, the ZIP code where their card was received, or their date of birth. The additional identifying information is configurable during program setup. If this additional verification fails, the call is transferred to Customer Service. 

Your card will be activated and you'll be asked to create a 4-digit security PIN after your identity has been validated. As a reminder, be careful to never share your CVV and card PIN with anyone. Karma customer support or employees will never ask you for your card PIN or CVV. 

Where can I use my Karma Card?

Your Karma Card works like any other bank-issued card and can be used in any merchant terminal in the world that accepts Mastercard debit cards.

What currencies are supported on my Karma Card?

The United States Dollar (USD) is the de facto currency of Karma Card. If you use your card outside the United States you will be debited in US dollars based on the local currency to the USD exchange rate. 

Are there limits for receiving money to my Karma Card?

The maximum daily instant transfer amount (US) is $5,000.00 per day. You can make a maximum of 10 instant transfers per day to your card, with a single instant transfer (US) limit of $5,000.00.

How do I check my card details?

To view your card details: 
a. Log into your Karma account, and navigate the Card section of the app 
b. You can click on the sections of the card graphics to reveal your card number, expiry date, and CVV and copy the details to your clipboard. For your protection, you will need to go through a security verification to get access.

How do I opt in to fund a tree with every Karma Card purchase?

Log into your Karma Card account via app.getkarmacard.com, then look for the button that says “plant trees”. You’ll be directed to your settings, where you’ll see “add a dollar to every purchase and plant a tree” with a toggle. You can opt in or out at any time using the toggle.

Where are the trees I’ve funded?

Thank you for supporting our tree planting partnership! It may take a day or two for your transaction to clear. Once it does, you’ll see a tree symbol next to every purchase that funded the planting of a tree.

How do I change my PIN?

To change the PIN to your card: 
Go to the Card section of the application 
a. Click on Change PIN 
b. Enter the current PIN for your card, then enter the new PIN twice and confirm that you are the one changing the card PIN, and you're done. 

I forgot my card PIN.

If you forget your PIN, you can go to the card menu and select the option, Show PIN.

A transaction was made on my card that I do not recognize.

If you notice a transaction that you did not make, we advise you to block the card immediately and submit a dispute on that transaction, and we will work to ensure your funds are returned to your account.

What if my card gets lost or stolen?

If your card gets lost or stolen, we advise that you immediately lock your card. We also advise that you report a lost, stolen, or compromised card. We immediately cancel the card and issue you a new card. Please use this phone number (+1-855-249-0326) to report stolen or compromised cards. 

How do I replace or delete my digital card(s)?

You can lock/unlock your card(s) at any time. To do so: 
a. Go to the Settings section in the app 
b. Slide to the card you wish to delete or replace 
c. Select Lock card to lock the card, or Unlock card to unlock the card 

N.B: We advise locking cards only if you want to prevent transactions on that card because the merchant's POS will reject transactions using a locked card.

My physical Karma Card has not arrived yet.

While we can only give an estimate of how long your delivery would take, once we ship your card to you, you will be able to track the status of your card's delivery, which is handled by the courier. We aim to get your card to you within 7 business days.Deliveries might take longer due to bad weather or public holidays. We ask that you wait a couple of extra business days.

What is cashback?

Cashback allows customers to receive cash rewards when paying with their Karma Cards with select merchants.

How do I sign up for  cashback?

Once you activate your Karma Card, your card is automatically eligible to receive cashback whenever you spend with your card. There are some additional special cashback offers that you can find in your Card page of the Karma application.

What percentage of cashback do I receive when I spend with my Karma Card?

There is no predetermined cashback percentage because cash back incentives are determined by participating retailers and vary by merchant, although cashbacks from retailers can be up to 10%.

What is Karma Card Cashforward?

Karma Card Cashforward allows you to donate your cashback to charitable causes and foundations directly from your account. To set up your donations, go to the “Cashforward'' section of the application where you can select charities and the percent of your cashback that you want to donate.

What types of charitable organizations are available?

The types of charities are classified based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. For more information please visit https://sdgs.un.org/goals. Our donation partner reviews each charity for compliance checks with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and Sanctions lists, as well as other checks to make sure that the charity is legitimate. We also provide details on each charity with links to their websites so that you can also do your research to be sure that you want to donate to the charity.

Does Karma take a fee from my donation?

The Company does not charge any fees for donations. In fact, there are fees associated with getting your donation to the charity, but Karma Card pays for those fees for you so that 100% of your donation is received by the charity.

I want a refund for a donation I made to a charity.

Karma Card does not provide refunds for charitable donations; however, in the event of fraud, we will cooperate with the appropriate authorities to report any fraudulent charity.

Can I add or suggest my preferred charity?

Yes, you can suggest a charity you wish to donate to on the platform. If the suggested charity organization isn’t already enabled, Karma can reach out to the charity organization to be added to the platform.
